Applying the scientific thinking process to our understanding of data requires a varied skill set ranging from understanding the big picture and strategy, to applying technological advances, and to presenting your findings in an easy and actionable way to drive business value.
I call this the data science sandwich estimator of success.
Method over hype. Techniques that survive a compliance question, not demos that run on tools your IT will never approve.
Rooms where skepticism is welcome. In this industry, doubt is a professional obligation, not an obstacle to get past.
Teaching that leaves something behind. You should walk out with a build, not a set of notes.
Getting medicine to people faster. Somewhere downstream of every document in this industry, a patient is waiting on the evidence.
The question comes first, and it comes first with AI too.
The failure I see most often is a capable professional typing a vague request into Copilot, getting back a paragraph that reads like a committee wrote it, and concluding the tool is overhyped.
The tool was fine. Nobody had told them the difference between asking AI a question and giving it a job.
I am here to help!
